Strategy 6. Identify what words in a technical phrase to translate

TRANSLATE VERBS OCCURING WITH A TECHNICAL NOUN PHRASE

  1. A verb occurring with a technical noun which is not fixed and may change to achieve different meanings

  2. Allow the technical noun phrase to fit into a more natural grammatical structure For instance; Absence of due process Example of application of Strategy 6 (1) ; Nogat due process i bin kamap (Absence of due process) Example of application of Strategy 6 (2) ; Nogat due process i bin kamap (Absence of due process) Rationale; Translating the technical phrase 'due process' would make the sentence longer, unclear and sound unnatural. Transliterating the phrase as 'diu proses' poses other challenges in terms of readability and referencing. 'Nogat due process i bin kamap' is easily readable, is easily understood and has words referenced in dictionaries. It also follows the more natural Tok Pisin sentence structure for actions, processes, events when they appear as a topic in Tok Pisin sentences. 'i kamap' meaning 'happened' is the predicate that completes the clause in the Tok Pisin clause structure 'subject + predicate'.
